Volkswagen Safety Tech: Engineered with Award-Winning Expertise

Everybody wants a safe vehicle, and a robust lineup of safety features can be a deciding factor between two vehicles. But in order to make an informed decision, you need to know what safety features are offered. Volkswagen offers a whole suite of advanced safety technologies under the name IQ.DRIVE, as well as connected features that come with a Safe & Secure subscription, and of course, Volkswagen vehicles perform admirably in crash tests.
Volkswagen IQ.DRIVE Features
IQ.DRIVE is the name given to a whole suite of Volkswagen safety technologies. These advanced features help you to prevent collisions, from parking lots to the highway. These are the features it includes:
- Lane Assist - Activated over 35 mph, this system uses cameras and gentle steering corrections to keep you from drifting out of the lane.
- Emergency Assist - Should the driver suddenly become unable to drive, Emergency Assist will bring the vehicle safely to a stop.
- Front Assist - Monitors the road in front of you. If there is anything that you might collide with, the system will first warn you, then apply the brakes if the driver doesn’t react in time.
- Rear Traffic Alert - Warns you, then applies the brake if you’re at risk of hitting another vehicle while in reverse, extremely useful to have in a cramped parking lot.
- Active Blind Spot Monitor - Warns you when there’s another vehicle in your blindspot.
- Adaptive Cruise Control - Maintains a set speed like conventional cruise control, but with the ability to slow down when a slower vehicle is directly in front of you, then return to the set speed afterward.
- Travel Assist - Essentially Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist together in one package.
Volkswagen Safe & Secure Features
While IQ.DRIVE might be extremely effective at preventing accidents, the unexpected does still sometimes happen. Safe & Secure is a suite of connected features that help keep you safe and your vehicle secure. These are the features that will give you a greater peace of mind:
- Automatic Crash Notification - When an airbag deploys or a rollover is detected, your vehicle will automatically call the Volkswagen Response Center to see if you need assistance.
- Emergency Assistance - Press the SUS button in your vehicle to be connected to the Volkswagen Response Center for assistance.
- Information Assistance - Hands-free method of contacting a VW agent for assistance.
- Anti-Theft Alerts - Sends an alert to your smartphone if your alarm is triggered.
- Stolen Vehicle Locator - Should your vehicle ever be stolen, this allows the Volkswagen Response Center to work with authorities to track the location.
- Road Awareness Alerts - While you’re driving, alerts will notify you of things like approaching emergency vehicles or disabled vehicles on your route.
- Vehicle H.E.L.P. - In the event of something like a flat tire or a crash, this system can notify oncoming vehicles that your vehicle is disabled and in or on the side of the road.
